Yoshie Tanaka, Mezzo Soprano

世界の権威ある国際コンクールの中でも、歴史と伝統ある難関なコンクールとして知られているミュンヘン国際音楽コンクールに1980年声楽部門で優勝を果たしヨーロッパでマスコミの話題となる。続いて同年、歌曲の最高傑作を生み出した、フーゴー・ヴォルフの国際歌曲コンクールでも優勝した。その才能はウィーンの大巨匠である故 イェルク・デームス氏にも認められ、初の日本人共演者となる。小澤征爾、ヘルベルト・ブロムシュテット他の指揮の下で国内外のオーケストラと共演するほか、ベートーヴェン「第九」、J.S. バッハ「マタイ受難曲」、マーラー「復活」、ヴェルディ「レクイエム」などのソリストとして、プッチーニ「蝶々夫人」、ロッシーニ「セヴィリアの理髪師」、モーツァルト「コシ・ファン・トゥッテ」、オッフェンバック「ホフマン物語」などのオペラでも活躍。バーンスタイン「キャンディード」、チレア「アルルの女」などのオペラでは日本初演のソリストとして、稀有な才能を遺憾無く発揮し好評を博す。「平安建都1200年記念・式典」、「戦後50年を記念する集い」において天皇皇后両陛下御前演奏の栄に浴す。

フェリス女学院高等学校を経て、国立音楽大学声楽科卒業。東京藝術大学大学院オペラ専攻修了。ウィーン国立音楽大学首席卒業。オーストリア政府より功労賞を受賞。日本演奏連盟会員。日本カール・レーヴェ協会幹事。国立音楽大学、同大学院元教授。

Among the world’s prestigious international competitions, Ms. Yoshie Tanaka won first prize in the 1980 voice category at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD), which is known as one of the most difficult competition with history and tradition, and attained her fame in Europe.

Then, in the same year, she won the international song competition of Hugo Wolf , who produced the masterpiece of Lied.

Her remarkable talent was recognized by the late Jörg Demus, the great master of Vienna, and became the first Japanese to co-star.

In addition to co-starring with domestic and foreign orchestras under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, Herbert Blomstedt and others, as a soloist, she performed Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony”, J.S. Bach “St. Matthew Passion”, Marler’s “Resurrection”, Verdi’s “Requiem”, etc. She also made a remarkable achievement in operas including Puccini “Madam Butterfly”, Rossini ”The Barber of Seville (Le Barbier e Seville)”, Mozart “Cosi fan Tutte”, Offenbach “The Tales of Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann)” and other operas.

As a soloist at the Japanese premiere of Operas such as Bernstein’s “Candide” and Cilea’s “L’Arlesienne”, she demonstrated her rare talent and gained popularity.

She is honored to perform in front of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress at the “Heian Capital 1200the Anniversary Ceremony(commemorating the 1200^th anniversary of the transfer of the national capital to Kyoto).” And the “50^th anniversary of the end of war”

She graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Vocal Music, after graduating from Ferris Girls’ Senior High School. She completed the graduate school opera major at Tokyo University of the Arts.

She graduated top of the class from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Austrian Government. She is a member of the Japan Federation of Musicians. She is the secretary of the Carl Loewe Association of Japan. She is a former professor at Kunitachi College of Music.
